Business Development Warehousing & Distribution (m/f/d)

Bruhn Spedition is a family owned business active in transport & logistics since 1898 and known for its expertise and professionalism. 

As a transport-architect we offer our customers door-to-door intermodal solutions for a wide range of dry-bulk, liquid and packed products.  We operate a fleet of 3.500 specialised trailers, containers and chassis.

Our customer list includes renowned global players in the chemical, food, agricultural and consumer good industry.

We are currently building 10.000 m² of warehouse capacity in Lübeck-Travemünde Germany’s leading Ro/Ro Port and Tri-modal platform that connects the Nordic Countries to mainland Europe.  To develop and grow our business unit Warehousing & Distribution we are looking for a versatile

Business Development Warehousing & Distribution (m/f/d)

You will combine an exciting sales and business development function with the monitoring,  coordination, organization and execution of the operational activities of our warehouse and optimal use of our people and resources.

The role will require the maintenance of existing accounts and a targeted and driven focus on customer acquisition across Europe. The role will involve travel, evenings away from home and carry ambitious sales targets and objectives.

We are looking for a focused and agile person with outspoken organizational and pioneering skills.  Someone with a successful background in warehousing and distribution that is able to manage people and customers from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Your challenge :

  • Developing a business plan that covers sales, revenue and expense controls
  • Searching for the ideal customers that fit into our product portfolio, record their needs and monitor their preferences.
  • Ensuring visibility and marketing on the field by establishing long term business relationships with major business partners.  
  • Participating in major sales opportunities with strong qualities to “close the deal”.
  • Translating strategy into operational logistics objectives, taking into account the continuous improvement of operations and keeping up-to-date with the market
  • Monitoring the co-ordination and management of projects for planning, warehouse, transport and master data to guarantee the continuity of the purchase, sale, planning and logistics processes.
  • Guaranteeing optimal management of the warehouse and ensuring that customers are supplied on time, within specifications, as agreed and at optimal cost.
  • Thinking and managing for the optimization and efficiency of logistics processes and infrastructure.
  • Motivating, developing and managing warehouse employees to enable them to perform their duties according to company expectations in terms of quantity, quality, hygiene, planning, safety, work instructions and procedures
  • Leading by example, fostering a team environment based on sound business judgment, problem solving and promoting common goals
  • Providing accurate and timely forecasts
  • Embracing and delivering change to the business in a positive, understanding and forward-thinking manner even if, on occasion, you personally may not fully agree with the changes
  • Advancing one’s own professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and other educational trainings, participating in professional societies and industry networks, and reading professional and industry publications

  • You are able to design and implement new processes and have a profound knowledge with ERP and WMS systems
  • You dispose over a vast network of contacts within the industry and are keen to enlarge it constantly 
  • You find the balance between short term-achievement and long-term development  
  • You remain calm in high pressure environments
  • You like international travel when business and opportunities demand so, occasionally at short notice


Your experience :

  • Experience in customer relationship management
  • Experience in operational warehousing management 
  • Minimum of 5 years successful sales and/or operational management in Warehousing & Distribution
  • Dedication to providing excellent customer service
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluent in English and German.  A Scandinavian language is a surplus.
